About the business and the role
We are looking for a swim teacher to join our team of over 100 cool swim teachers. We are working hard to develop keen swimmers, who are safe in and around the water and excited to be heading down the swimming journey. Teachers are the most important people in our team as they are the front and face of our business. Good teachers mean a lot to our clients be they wee newbies in their first session, grizzled veterans swimming laps, through to their mums and dads.
Job tasks and responsibilities
You will be a motivated swim teacher organizing yourself to be early every time (because on time is late). You will have a great rapport with your teaching colleagues, students and their parents alike.
You will have the ability to set your schedule in line with what we need. Due to the demand that we cater for we teach 7 days a week from 8 am in the morning through to 7pm at night (with some top level coaching going on until 8.30pm). We deliver one of the best and largest schools programmes in the country. Find Your Field of Dreams community swim delivers free lessons in South Auckland and more recently in Hamilton.
Each swim teacher has a group of swimmers to look after who will think that you are something special. To get to that you will be empathetic, knowledgeable and have just a little bit of hustle about you.
Skills and experience
Ideally our swim teachers will have an NZQA recognized swim teaching certificate. All of our staff are also police vetted and have a current first aid certificate. Beyond that many staff complete a certificate in sport and recreation (Level 3). We are more than happy to help you to get the qualifications needed to be a fantastic swim teacher.
To get the prerequisite qualifications we often require staff to shadow our current teachers. That process can take some time...however it really is worth it.
